We’re Workshop Leaders and Trainers

Our workshops help individuals and teams build their capacity, confidence and creativity.

We work in partnership with organisations like The Fore Trust, CAST, CO3 and Superhighways to deliver training to their grantees. Our topics include governance, fundraising, evaluation, communications and volunteers. We’ve based these practical and interactive workshops on our experience of leading nonprofits.  We’ve designed them to give you the practical tools you need to create change.

Examples of our workshops

  • Succession Planning

    Succession Planning

This online workshop focuses on best practice in nonprofit succession planning. It’s for nonprofits leaders and provides an opportunity to share your perspectives, learn from others and a space to start thinking about how to make a proper plan for a smooth succession in your organisation. Getting it right is the responsibility of both the existing leadership and your board of trustees – but it is a key management and governance challenge for which there is often no forward plan. Based partly on our own experience of where it has gone right (and sometimes gone wrong) and useful tips from others, we will explore the ways to get your succession planning right and future proof your organisation against changes both foreseen and unforeseen.

  • Comms Clinic

    Comms Clinic

Communicating the right message, knowing how to present yourself and your organisation on your website, social media channels and elsewhere can make the difference between whether you get funding, someone decides to volunteer, or they decide to retweet your message to their followers.

In this small group introductory workshop, we will discuss the importance of stories and organisational messaging. We will dissect charity websites and social media channels – what works, what doesn’t and what could be improved so your website is compelling and your social media channels tell a better story about what you do.

  • Building Great Corporate Partnerships

    Building Great Corporate Partnerships

Developing good corporate partnerships can bring numerous benefits to your organisation – increased revenue and awareness, skilled professional volunteers and great new board members. But the needs of a corporate partner can be quite different from those of a trust, foundation or a public funder.

What do you need to know and prepare for to build a successful corporate partnership? During this workshop we’ll explore their benefits and potential pitfalls and how to find the right corporate partner for you.

  • High Net Worth Donor Philanthropy

    High Net Worth Donor Philanthropy

Cultivating private sources of income can bring numerous benefits to your organisation. High Net Worth Donors can help increase unrestricted revenue, build awareness and profile and provide support to your organisation for many years.

However the needs of a major donor are quite different from those of a trust, foundation or a public funder. What do you need to do to identify, secure and maintain a major donation relationship?

  • All Onboard - Board Governance and Development

All Onboard - Board Governance and Development

In this online workshop, we’ll discuss good board recruitment, what makes a good board member, the board/Executive Director relationship and how to make sure your organisation AND board members get what they want from board service.

  • Volunteer Management

    Volunteer Management

Volunteers are often an essential part of how a nonprofit delivers its work. Yet the recruitment, management and retention of volunteers can often be a challenge. Drawing on our experience of running organisations that trained and deployed large numbers of volunteers, and of creating successful volunteer programmes ourselves, we developed this workshop to help nonprofits build successful volunteer programmes.

  • How to Grow Well

    How to Grow Well

Based on our personal experience of growing and replicating charities in the US and UK, this 3 hour online workshop will look at the principles behind good growth, the different models to consider and knotty issues of legal structure, franchising, replication and intellectual property.  How do you expand to meet need whilst maintaining sustainability?

  • Organisational Storytelling

This online workshop is designed to help you tell a better story about what your nonprofit does to those who most need to know. Stories help to communicate impact, create connection and empathy and drive the change you want to effect both within your own organisation and the wider world. They are fundamental to how it connects with your communities, your team, partners and funders.  In this creative, participatory workshop, we will explore the power of good storytelling, how to craft impactful stories and what you need to focus on when presenting and telling them.

  • Storytelling for Fundraising

The art of storytelling and being able to tell the stories within your organisation is becoming more important than ever. With competition for funding increasing, being able to talk about your work and its impact in a compelling and engaging way to a range of funders, whether they be a major donor, a foundation or a corporation, could make all the difference. How do you tell your story to a funder that makes them say – “I’m interested, tell me more.”

The workshop today was absolutely brilliant! Thank you so much, Gerald & Ben for your sound advice, giving us the space to reflect and really understand our words was very powerful . I heard stories retold in a heartfelt way that compelled me to hear what was being said and really brought the story to life in a way which I have not heard retold in that way before. Very moving and hugely compelling.

Your direction, your sound advice, your guidance and direction are second to none.

Thank you both
– Tracey, Chief Executive
