Spring is sprung

Despite all the problems of the pandemic, the change of seasons takes place regardless.  We’ve had a very busy start to the year and are looking forward to a productive spring  Since February, we’ve been in the midst of delivering training for nearly 90 nonprofits and social enterprises in the network of CAST – the Centre for the Acceleration of Social Technologies and we’re about to start a new season of workshops with The Fore.  You can book for these below.  In addition to this, we’ll also be running sessions of All Onboard, our online governance. workshop.

We’re excited to once again be working with Historic England helping them to develop a new digital education strategy.   Our work on Stage 2 focuses on building an understanding of the work of their Local Heritage Education Managers around the country and the way they support teachers to create programmes and run lessons in local heritage.  Our proposal to Historic England was to develop a digital platform that would enable any child, regardless of their background or location, to be able to see and understand their own story in the national one, by exploring their extensive archives of maps, images and other resources.  We look forward to seeing what emerges as we start to talk to teachers about what they need from this platform.

We also completed our very rapid response research project for A New Direction.  As outlined in our last post, our Listening Project was an inquiry into the impact of Covid-19 on the creative practice of people and organisations that work with young people in London.  We interviewed and talked to nearly 40 people across the city, gaining an insight into the state of play at this pivotal moment, as we shift from lockdown to reopening.  The final report will be published shortly.

Last month we were invited by the Arts Marketing Association to run a session for over 150 arts marketeers exploring organisational storytelling and, this month, we will be doing some related work for The Garden Classroom.  We will help their team create a system to capture the stories that communicate the impact of this brilliant charity that helps children learn by being outdoors: something they’ll need more than ever after lockdown.
